Bailing Out a Sinking Ship

It’s been a long month.  The economic nightmare which has been thrust upon us by the criminals on Wall Street is definitely leaving its mark as retirement nest eggs are poached by weasels.  As you most likely know, the idiots in Congress have passed the $700,000,000,000 bailout, and we still see no light at the end of the tunnel.  It’s going to be a tough Christmas this year for the little ones.

I, like many Americans, have been giving a lot of thought to the current economic condition of the United States.  I am beyond disappointed in the system which allowed such a negligent collection of practices to happen in the first place.  The system to which I refer, however, may not be what you would expect.

Government regulation of corporate practices, within reason, is a fundamental necessity.  Too many times, Corporate America has shown the world its love for screwing the little guy to ever think a truly unregulated market could be a good thing.  But too much government regulation isn’t a good thing either.  It’s all about balance, but unfortunately we don’t seem to have too much of that these days.  The problem goes way beyond corporate oversight, however.

How many times have you heard someone complain about US companies moving operations overseas?  Or importing goods manufactured elsewhere rather than employ Americans here at home?  How often have you noticed something you are purchasing was made in China?  This, ladies and gentlemen, is the very foundation of our country’s financial misery and woe.  The middle class is shrinking as fast as the lower class explodes.  The upper class keeps rising up, and we are beginning to see more and more areas within the United States take on the appearance of 3rd world countries.

The United States is too dependent on non-renewable resources for energy, and aside from the glaring environmental irresponsibility, we are losing billions of dollars every year to foreign oil barons.  Dubai is being built with the blood, sweat, and tears of the average American and we have nothing to show for it but ever rising fuel prices as we approach the bottom of the global oil drum.  We should be investing $700,000,000,000 into American owned companies developing alternative forms of energy such as solar, wind, hydroelectric.  The United States is in a unique position to revolutionize the global energy markets through technological innovation in alternative energy industry, and yet we sit idle and wait for someone to do something.  We should not be giving that money to the crooks who stole it from us in the first place.

Think about this the next time you go to the store.  Look at how many products were made in a communist country with a horrible human rights record.  Think about how many American jobs that product could help support if it were manufactured here.

It’s time folks.  It’s time that We The People take our country back.
