Twitter
With the ever ris­ing pop­u­lar­ity of the Social Media pow­er­house Twit­ter, new appli­ca­tions and ser­vices pop up every week.  From fol­lower man­age­ment and sched­uled tweets to spam block­ing and desk­top clients, there are tools for just about every­thing you could think of.

Sug­gests new peo­ple to fol­low with Twit­ter sim­ply by enter­ing a user­name and click­ing a but­ton.  The abil­ity to fil­ter out Twit­ter “celebri­ties” is avail­able.  Sim­ple inter­face and no reg­is­tra­tion or authen­ti­ca­tion require­ments.  First time use takes a bit of time, be patient.

Twit­ter users can select a cat­e­gory, num­ber of users to fol­low (10 — 50), enter their Twit­ter user­name and pass­word (OAuth is not cur­rently inte­grated with this ser­vice), and Fol­low­for­ma­tion will auto­mat­i­cally fol­low the top 10 — 50 users for them.  10% of the “top users” for any given cat­e­gory are paid placements.

Searches through the pro­files of those you fol­low sug­gest­ing Twit­ter users based on who they fol­low.  This ser­vice requires you to enter your Twit­ter user­name and pass­word, OAuth is not cur­rently implemented.

Loca­tion based search­able direc­tory of Twit­ter users.  Search with key­words, loca­tions, or user­names.  The link to sub­mit a list­ing is located on the FAQ page.  Sub­mit­ting your user­name for list­ing requires OAuth approval, and will post a Tweet to your time­line with­out warning.

Direc­tory of Twit­ter users which can be searched by key­word or user­name, or browsed by cat­e­gory.  Tweet­Find claims to be “The Only Live Twit­ter Direc­tory” but sub­mit­ting a list­ing takes up to 24 hours.

Search­able direc­tory of Twit­ter users.  Browse by cat­e­gory, search by keyword/username, or use Twel­low­hood to see list­ings of Twit­ter users by city.  Twel­low scrapes user­names from pub­lic Twit­ter feeds and parses their pro­file pages for list­ing data.  Twit­ter users can reg­is­ter for a Twel­low account to update and extend their listings.

While Twit­Dir adver­tises itself as a direc­tory, it is more of a Twit­ter user search engine.  There are no cat­e­gories or method of sub­mit­ting a list­ing to Twit­Dir.  User­names are scraped from pub­lic Twit­ter feeds and the asso­ci­ated pro­files are parsed for list­ing data.

Search­able direc­tory of Twit­ter users, which can be browsed by cat­e­gory.  Twit­ter users can sub­mit their user­name to be listed by log­ging into Twit­ter from WeFol­low using OAuth, choos­ing 3 key­words, and sub­mit­ting a Tweet via the WeFol­low sub­mis­sion page.

By log­ging into My Tweeple using Twitter’s OAuth authen­ti­ca­tion ser­vice, Twit­ter users are able to view data for all of their Twit­ter con­tacts such as date and time of last Tweet, num­ber of Tweets, num­ber of fol­low­ers and peo­ple fol­lowed.  Users can also “ding” their con­tacts to indi­cate that they may be spam­mers, scam­mers, or just plain bad eggs.  Users can view their Twit­ter con­tacts in one of three ways.  Peo­ple they fol­low, peo­ple who fol­low them, or every­one listed together.  In the every­one view, an icon which says “It’s Mutual” will be dis­played by con­tacts who the user fol­lows and is fol­lowed by.

Twit­ter users can access data for all of their con­tacts (followers/following) such as num­ber of fol­low­ers, num­ber of peo­ple they fol­low, num­ber of Tweets, and the date and time of their last Tweet.  After log­ging in with OAuth, the user can choose to man­age their fol­low­ers or they can man­age those they fol­low.  Up to 100 con­tacts can be dis­played per page, sorted by screen name, real name, num­ber of fol­low­ers, num­ber of con­tacts fol­lowed, num­ber of Tweets, and date of last Tweet.

Twit­ter users can log into Twit­Block using their Twit­ter accounts (via OAuth) and scan their fol­low­ers for signs of “spam­mi­ness.”  Twit­Block assigns a score to each fol­lower based on cer­tain cri­te­ria, dis­play­ing fol­low­ers with a score of 20 or higher.  The user can either “ana­lyze” fol­low­ers to see a break­down of their score, or block them.

Twit­ter Sta­tis­tics and Analytics

Pro­vides sta­tis­ti­cal data related to a user’s  Tweets per hour, Tweets per month, Tweet time­line , replies.  Tracks Twit­ter trends and sta­tis­tics as well.  No login is required to use this service.

Pro­vides a wide range of sta­tis­tic data about Twit­ter users, activ­ity, pop­u­lar­ity, reach, and much… much… much more.  The ser­vice is free with the option of becom­ing a “fea­tured user.”  No login is required to use this service.

Pro­vides basic sta­tis­ti­cal data about Twit­ter users and their usage includ­ing fol­lower, fol­low­ing, and Tweet vol­ume pro­jec­tions.  Sug­gested Twit­ter users to fol­low based on the dis­played user are also provided.

Mis­cel­la­neous Twitter-Related Services

Twit­ter users can enter a Twit­ter user­name to see the aver­age num­ber of Tweets that user posts per day, as well as mea­sure the Tweet aver­age with a scale based on Robert Scoble’s Twit­ter usage.

Secret­Tweet : http://secrettweet.com/ (free)

Allows Twit­ter users to post anony­mous Tweets to SecretTweet’s time­line.  Secret­Tweet has over 30,000 fol­low­ers who will see the anony­mous Tweets, and oth­ers can reply either pub­licly or anonymously.
